Live to the point of tears.— Albert Camus
Bruce is the founder of the company. He came from the world of alternative newsweeklies, where he learned how powerful event listings were in building audiences. After craigslist absconded with virtually all of his alt weekly's classified ads, he decided to join the party, left the altweekly, which had since been sold to Village Voice Media, and started to aggregate all of the event listings in the country and beyond. Thus was evie.com born. Soon afterward, Ticketmaster sued Dobie to restrain him from using the name "evie," because it interfered with "evite," so eviesays.com was born. Bruce is a native Louisianian, a father of two, a husband to one, and he enjoys politics, good literature, the great outdoors, and friends.
Chris DownsChief Technology Officer
Chris joined eviesays in the spring of 2011, after spending the previous five years at rivals.com/Yahoo! Sports. In addition to heading up our tech efforts, he’s also personally responsible for the miniature bowling alley in the office. When he’s not at Dobie Media, Chris wears blue while rooting for the Tennessee Titans and hangs out with his wife and two young children...in a van down by the river.
David MohrChief Operating Officer and VP/Business Development
David is the token Canadian at eviesays, but he can still dance. Mohr moved to the States to attend college at Wittenberg University and received his BA in Economics. He gained his US citizenship shortly after the birth of his first child. With a natural passion and ability for sales he excelled in his sales management career in the corporate telecommunications market with Sprint before joining eviesays in the earliest days of its inception. Outside of the art of sales, David is passionate about health, fitness, and golf.
Perry Del FaveroEditorial Director
After graduating from Wake Forest University and NYU’s Summer Publishing Institute in 2009, Perry moved back to her hometown of Nashville and started work at eviesays in the fall of 2010. She spends her days editing calendar content, managing training materials for our partner sites, and chatting with our contributors overseas, among other things. Perry is always interested in talking about whatever is trending on Twitter and seeing pictures of your cat.
Charlie McMackinSenior Interface Manager
After four years teaching English in Japan, Charlie returned home to his native Nashville and joined eviesays shortly thereafter in February 2009. When he isn't writing code for eviesays he enjoys reading about and tinkering with the latest trends in web development and 3D computer graphics. Fun Fact: he's certified to teach calligraphy at the junior high school level in Japan.
Senior Infrastructure Engineer
Chris handles the infrastructure here at Eviesays. Before tending to Evie's garden of technology, Chris had a brief stint as a stunt man, did some 3D modeling for the DOD, and worked for a professional hockey team. When not slinging 1s and 0s of outrageous fortune, he reads a little, watches movies a lot, and makes a killer steak au poivre. He also lies about cooking.
Michelle HallockOffice Manager
A New Orleans native, Michelle made her way up to the Volunteer State to attend The University of the South. Not long after, Michelle decided that she liked hot chicken better than gumbo and has been in Nashville ever since. When she’s not hanging out with her four children and husband, Michelle is the linchpin holding together all of Dobie Media’s day to day clerical operations.
